A Study On Impact Of Social Media On Youth - UGC0625005
Social media has become an essential part of young people’s lives, influencing their education, relationships, and overall lifestyle. The article titled " A Study on impact of Social Media on Youth "by Sushma Rawanath, Dr .R.Satheesh Kumar and Venkatesh Kumar published in the Journal of Management explores how social media affects youth both positively and negatively.
The authors focus on the changing
behavior patterns of young people as they increasingly engage with platforms
such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter. This study aims to
understand how social media influences youth in terms of education,
communication, entertainment, and personal development.
The main research questions of the study is to analyze how social media impacts the lives of young people and to identify its positive and negative effects. The researchers specifically aim to assess how youth use social media in their daily lives and how it affects their learning, communication, and emotional well-being.
The methodology used in the study is descriptive in nature. The researchers collected primary data through a structured questionnaire distributed to 50 youth respondents, and secondary data from journals, articles, and magazines. The sample mainly consisted of individuals aged between 18 and 25 years, who represented the most active group on social media.
The results revealed that 98% of respondents accessed social media through mobile phones, and the most popular platforms were Facebook and Instagram. Most participants used social media for communication, entertainment, and sharing posts. About 40% of them spent three to four hours daily online. While respondents recognized positive impacts such as learning opportunities, staying connected with friends, and job searching, they also reported negative effects like cyber theft, health issues, time wastage, and exposure to abusive content.
Overall, “A Study on Impact of Social Media on Youth”
provides useful insight into how social media influences modern youth culture.
The paper’s strength lies in its practical relevance and balanced approach, but
its weaknesses include a small sample size and lack of analytical depth. Future
research could focus on larger and more diverse groups, include psychological
factors, and use advanced statistical tools to measure long-term impacts.
Despite its limitations, the study successfully encourages young people to use
social media responsibly and reminds readers that digital behavior shapes not
only personal lives but also society as a whole.

A well-balanced and insightful study that effectively highlights both the benefits and drawbacks of social media on youth. It offers valuable awareness about responsible digital use and reflects real-life experiences of today’s tech-driven generation.
