Development of Game Based Learning Applications to Increase Students' Learning Motivation - UGC0725022
In the continuosly evolving digital era, education faces new challenges in maintaing students' interest and learning motivation. The conventionality of teacher-centered learning approaches often fails to capture student's interest, resulting boredom and lack of engagement in the learning process. To address this issue the authors uses the approach of Game-based Learning applications. The development of game-based learning applications offers an innovative and engaging learning approach that utilizes gaming elements to create an interactive and enjoyable learning experience by using challenges, achievements and reward systems. The aim of this study is to develop an effective game-based learning application that enhances students' learning motivation and root them to actively participate in their learning process.
The game-based learning approach has become a spotlight in the world of education as an attractive and effective method to enhance student engagement, motivation and learning outcomes. Game-based learning carries the idea that learning does not have to become a boring or rigid task. Instead this approach integrates gaming elements into learning process to enhance student engagement and motivation , by offering more interactive, enjoyable and challenging learning experience. The benefits of game-based learning applications are diverse. The study shows that it has been proved that by presenting learning material, in form of engaging games which includes a specific learning goal to achieve, the students are more motivated to learn and participate in the learnin process. Additionally the study has also brought to attention that game-based learning can enhave information retention through structured repetition and challenges. Futhermore, it is said that game-based learning encourages the development of critical skiils such as problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork. This study is conducted due to the awareness of imporatnce of enhancing student's learning motivations as an intial step in achieving better learning outcomes. The study also aims to fill the knowledge gap regarding the effectiveness of using technology to enhance students' learning motivation. The research method used here is the R&D developement method which is a systematic approach used to develop new products or technology. The developement stages of the application include needs analysis, application design, implementation, evaluation and revision. The process of developing a game-based learning application for students is a series of steps designed systematically and oriented towards educational goals. The authors state several steps that can be followed in game-based learning as identifying needs and goals, application concept designs, prototype development, trial and evaluation, refining and improvement, implementation and launch, monitoring and updates and long term evaluation. These steps are hoped to be followed by the authors in order to develop an interactive and interesting learning applications for the self-driven learners.
It is impressive how the authors have aimed to blend gaming elements into the learning process in order to create an effective strategy to motivate students and enhance the overall quality of eduction. The stengths of this research lies within the R&D framework which is used to ensure that the application developed is affective, meets educational needs and is able to increase student learning motivation in a significant way. The observation of previous studies in game-based learning application development conducted by the authors has become a solid foundation for the research. However the study seems unrealstic as it emphazises benefits of game-based learning without deeply analyzing the cognitive and psychological mechanisms behind motivation. Additionally it seems that there's a gap in general information as the subject domain, age are not provided. Depsite the issues, the study a great source of information to who are interested in in developing game-based learning applications.
The conclusion of this study is that game-based learning applications have a great potential for transforming education, providing more dynamic and responsive method for teachching and learning. The research could be expanded in the future with large scale studies, assesing long term impacts and exploring how specific game elements affects diffrent learning styles.
